People who know me well know that I DON’T cook. It’s not just that I’m incapable of slicing an onion without cutting my fingers, it’s that my interest in the kitchen domain revolves around the microwave and Haagen Daz in multiple flavours.
But I do have a certain fondness for fifties inspired dresses and these adorable aprons are made to be worn with high heels and seamed stockings, whilst pulling perfectly sized cupcakes out of the oven. Enough to turn me into a younger Bree Van der Camp? Maybe Martha Stewart lurks deep within after all…
They’re $28.75 from Boojiboo on Etsy, and I think the sweetheart neckline would look amazingly flattering.

Isn’t this amazing? I can’t believe someone actually took the time to create a work of art out of an old cassette. Who’d have thought an old tape could be turned into something so cool and stylish?
Either the artist is uber talented or has a serious case of too-much-time-on-his-hands!
Isn’t this pic of Dylan the spitting image?!

OK, Ada Lovelace day was yesterday, but seeing as I already posted my tribute on Shiny, I thought I’d repost it today for you guys.
For those not in the loop, Ada Lovelace day is the designated yearly day when women in technology are celebrated worldwide. There are so many fabulous women I could nominate for this award, but to avoid accusations of favouritism and poisoned emails, I’m going to nominate a woman from the world of TV. It’s a difficult choice to make, as there are so many impressive women represented in this medium (Alex Mack/ Penny from Inspector Gadget), but I’ve made the difficult decision to nominate Willow (a.k.a Alyson Hannigan) from the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
And why does this red headed lady grab the top position out of the many, many worthy candidates? Well, to start off, she’s a witch. A bona fide magic working, spell weaving mistress of the night, yet she’d rather Google her way out of a problem then cast a spell to make it go away (apart from the episodes where her hair turned black, but we’ve forgiven her that). There are many things I don’t know about Australia and many things I expected to be completely clueless about. Pre-arrival I had fond fantasies about late night beach barbies surrounded by flaxen haired men with torsos you could play the bongos on. I visualized balmy summer nights set to a Summer Bay soundtrack, and a city full of frivolous fun loving people who were scantily clad.
Well, half of that’s true, but there’s a lot more to Sydney than Neighbours would have you believe. For starters, just because they’re a 24 hour plane ride away doesn’t mean the life here isn’t as complex and prevaricated as it is on our shores, the weathers just better, that’s all. Their economy has been hit, they’re experiencing forest fires- the mere fact of balmy sunshine in March does not mean automatic serotonin boosters for every citizen.
Every city has a distinct personality, so I can’t even qualify the title in all fairness, as since you can’t bunch LA and New York together, likewise it’s unfair to assume Sydney speaks for all of Oz. My experience has been slightly coloured by hanging out 24/7 with my gay friend (how else would I have realized North Bondi beach was the gay part?), but there are some major differences/ cultural experiences that stood out for me.
1. A hotel is not a hotel, unless it has a lobby.
Seriously, they have the Exchange Hotel, the Art Hotel, the Kings Cross Hotel- and they’re all bars and clubs. And don’t let a sign that says ‘beds available’ fool you, as that may be just a kinky invitation. Look for a lobby if you want a room, or stay and drink. In a strange reverse fashion, somewhere labelled ‘bar’ is not a hotel, but is normally a really terrible bar, so go to a hotel. You get the idea. Read more…

I don’t own any pets. It’s not to say I wouldn’t love one, but due to landlord issues with animals, the rising cost of pet insurance and the lack of time I’d have to give them it seems it will be quite a few years before a pooch graces my household. But were I to get one I think it might be considered cruel to dress them up in wellies- no matter how cute. Read more…

Or do other people need to take off their sunglasses to hear properly? I don’t know why I need to do this but somehow the tint of the lense makes words incomprehensible.
Yes, I know I’m weird.
Or could that be why Mrs Beckham looks so out of it whenever she’s asked questions? She’s not being rude- she just can’t HEAR them. Hmm.
