Links of London- Sneak Preview of the 2010 Sweetie Collection

sdc10678What sweets do you choose when visiting the store? I’m not talking your Cadbury or Nestle options, but good old fashioned pick’n’mix, with bonbons ranging from lemondrops to mint humbugs. Deliberating over flavour is a difficult yet pleasurable experience, and Links have echoed this, with their Sweetie bracelet having some of the most delectable charms in the world.

In recent years the recognizable Links of London Sweetie bracelet has become a cult piece of jewellery, with everyone from aspirational teens to middle aged Sloanes happily flashing it on their wrist. Every season more charms released, and the 2010 collection takes us back to the confectionery store, allowing you to indulge in deliciously decorated lollipops and quirky eighties geek chic charms.

The bracelet itself retains it original qualities, but Links has added a miniature version, designed especially for smaller wrists, which is also available in rose gold, as well as the recognizable silver.

{Mmm, I’ll start with the gummy bear}

{I’m seriously in love with the old school 3D specs charm}

This season we’re also getting Elizabeth Galton’s third couture collection, and she has created 5 delicate pieces for the Links of London line.

The centerpiece in this collection has to be the elaborate breastplate, a piece which size is equalled only by its delicacy and which is an explosion of music, with enthusiastic trumpets and trombones gently accentuating finely wrought violins and harps- a musical score captured and set in shimmering silver.

I was particularly taken with these two cuffs, delicate silver work created to pay homage to all that is fanciful and joyous.

One cuff has a miniature orchestra carefully wrought into it, along the same lines as the breastplate.

There’s also this ultra feminine option, with the second cuff a delightful ode to style, with intricate handbags and stiletto shoes worked into the design.
